After regulation changes in the FIM World Supersport Championship (which now allows 800cc bikes to compete alongside 600cc sports bikes) MV Agusta re-engineered their F3 RR, resulting in a spectacular racetrack machine.
The liquid-cooled three-cylinder 800cc engine remains the same as the previous generation, with peak power (147hp) and torque figures (64lb-ft) staying the same. However, there is now an optional Race Kit available to purchase, which when used will increase the bike’s power to 155bhp and reduce weight by an impressive 8kg! The Race Kit includes a custom Akrapovic exhaust, CNC components including a fuel cap, brake and clutch levers and a revised ECU.
The most noticeable difference to the 2022 F3 RR is the addition of new winglets and the vastly improved aerodynamics. MV Agusta say – “The F3 RR was the subject of a careful study in the wind tunnel, which led to the integration of some aerodynamic elements in the fairing. The objective? To improve performance and increase the efficiency of the engine. The appendages on the sides of the fairing are made of forged carbon fibre and are able to generate a load of 8 kg on the front end at a speed of 240 km/h.”
Other changes to the new F3 RR include lighter wheels, updated two-way Quick-Shift EAS 3.0, new six-axis IMU and a taller windscreen, designed to push air away from the rider. The comprehensive electronics package includes cornering ABS, lean sensitive traction control, slide control, wheelie control, cruise control and launch control. The 5.5inch TFT display is the same dash used on the 2021 Brutale 800 and is smartphone compatible and, if using the F3 RR on the road, can be turned into a navigation system. The dash also connects with MV Agusta’s MV Ride app.
