BMW’s big tourer has been updated for 2022!
Updates including a brand-new dash, LED lights, updated engine, and improved suspension.
All four of the K 1600 models can be seen above (K 1600 GT, GTL, B, and Grand America) and all four share revisions to BMW’s six-cylinder engine, which is now Euro5 compliant. The 160bhp peak remains unchanged, but peak torque is up, from 129lb.ft to 133lb.ft.
Further updates to each model include LED lights, a brand-new dash, and improved suspension.
Lighting is now fully LED, including the latest version of BMW’s ‘Adaptive’ system which turns the headlight according to lean, and the Adaptive system now also alters the headlight pitch when accelerating and braking.
The K 1600 models all feature BMW’s massive 10.25-inch colour TFT dash, a vast improvement from the previous gen. The new dash was first introduced on the 2021 R 1250 RT and features a clever split-screen option which enables the rider to view the satnav and a choice of other displays simultaneously. The huge TFT will definitely be vulnerable to scratches, so fitting a screen protector is a must-have mod. Buy your Speedo Angels 2022 K 1600 screen protector here.
Suspension on the K 1600 has also been updated and is BMW’s Dynamic ESA “Next Generation” electronic suspension. BMW say that their ESA suspension offers “fully automatic load compensation as standard” and will adapt to riding conditions and manoeuvres. Riding modes available include Road, Dynamic and Rain and all models have a large 26.5 litre fuel tank. For the GTL and Grand America models, the ‘audio system 2.0’ comes as standard, and is available as an extra option for the GT and B models.
Available in UK dealers from March, prices for the K1600 series start at £20,215 for the B, rising to £20,395 for the GT, £21,920 for the GTL and £24,410 for the Grand America) model.
