The Bike Highlight – 2022 Kawasaki Z650RS

Based on the popular Z650, Kawasaki’s new 2022 Z650RS is a retro-styled bike with modern tech and we love the look of it!

The bike shares the same tubular steel trellis as the Z650 and the same parallel-twin engine, which produces 67 horsepower at 8,000 rpm (this can be restricted to 40bhp for A2 licence holders) and 47 foot-pounds of torque at 6,700 rpm.
Suspension is provided by 41mm forks with Kawasaki’s own horizontal link rear shock. Twin discs up front are gripped by twin-piston calipers, and Bosch ABS is standard. The bike has a traditional, upright riding position and a fairly low seat height of 820mm

We think Kawasaki have done a great job of styling this retro, middle weight machine. The bike features a classic round LED headlight, duck tail cowling, retro pair of analogue clocks and comes in your choice of three 1970’s inspired colourways. The new multi-spoke wheels are an excellent addition – especially on the ‘candy emerald green’ version of the bike where they’re finished in gold – and the tyres are Dunlop’s Sportmax Roadsport 2s.

  • powered by 649cc twin which produces 67bhp @ 8000rpm and 47lb.ft @ 6700rpm
  • Trellis, high-tensile steel frame
  • 12 litre fuel tank
  • 820mm seat height
  • Twin analogue clocks
  • Curb mass of 187kg
  • A2 licence friendly

The combination of retro styling and modern tech is proving incredibly popular for other manufacturers and we’re sure the 2022 Z650RS will also be a hit for Kawasaki.
Available in Candy Emerald Green (our fave by far), Metallic Moondust Grey / Ebony and Metallic Spark Black. The 2022 Z650RS starts from £7549 and will arrive in UK dealers next month.

The Z650RS has the same twin, round LCD screens as the Z900RS. Shop our screen protectors available here!
