Yamaha’s MT-10 receives significant upgrades and improvements for 2022!
Let’s start with the styling of the new MT-10. The hyper naked features stripped back bodywork and an incredibly distinctive face with eye-like LED headlights and eyebrow-style LED running light strips. Colour options include the standout Cyan Storm (our fave) and the standard Icon Blue and Tech Black. The bike’s aesthetics will no doubt divide opinion, much like the 2021 MT-09 did, but we love the bike’s unusual, stand-out styling!
Other 2022 changes largely focused on meeting Euro 5 emissions limits. Yamaha’s MT-10 has a 998cc inline-4 engine which uses a crossplane crank to give its characteristic roar, and dispute Euro 5 compliances, both power and torque have increased! The peak has risen 6hp from 158hp (118kW) to 164hp (122kW) at 11,500rpm, while torque is up from 111Nm (81.9lbft) to 112Nm (82.6lbft) at 9000rpm.
Further updates include a change in shape to the MT-10’s seat for increased comfort, the addition of ‘Acoustic Amplifier Grilles’ on the left and right of the fuel tank, a completely redesigned titanium exhaust and new Bridgestone Battleax Hypersport S22 tyres.
The MT-10’s electronics include ride-by-wire throttle system, 6-axis IMU, four riding modes (mode A, B, C, D), lean sensitive traction control system, Brake Control, Slide Control System, Lift Control System and Engine Brake Management. Cruise control and up/down quickshifter also come as standard.
Excitingly, the 2022 MT-10 gets a new colour TFT dashboard! The same TFT as the R1, the 4.2-inch screen is more modern and a much-needed update.
Due in UK dealers in February 2022, we can’t wait to take the new MT-10 for a test ride! Price TBA
