What makes a motorcycle scary? It could be a bike’s petrifying power, exceedingly high value, or it’s exclusivity that make it a hair-raising machine to ride.

Kawasaki ZH2 £15,149

The fastest production motorcycle in the world deserves a place on our scariest motorcycles list! The track focused ZH2 from Kawasaki is powered by a 998cc. supercharged Inline-4 motor that produces 200 hp and 101 lb-ft – 50% more power than the fastest street-legal motorcycle. The ZH2 does 0-60 MPH in under 3 seconds and has a top speed of over 200 MPH!

Norton V4 SS £44,000

Only 200 examples of the super exclusive Norton V4 SS were made. Powered by a bespoke V4 motor that produced 200 horsepower, the Norton V4 SS was said to be a thrilling ride. Unfortunately, Norton recalled all of the £44,000 V4 SS models sold to customers at the end of former CEO Stuart Garner’s reign, after 35 faults and safety issues were discovered. Faults ranged from leaking fuel tanks, brake line melting and faulty indicators.

Yamaha BMS Chopper £2.2 million

More of collector’s item than an actual ride, the Yamaha BMS Chopper is an incredible piece of mechanical art.  Fully coated in 24 karat gold, the BMS Chopper has a red velvet upholstered seat and is powered by a 1700cc V-twin engine. Price? A hair-raising £2.2 million.

Ducati Panigale V4 25 Anniversario 916 £36,995

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Ducati’s legendary 916 (the 916 SBK won 120 races, 8 constructors’ titles and 6 riders’ titles, four of them with Carl Fogarty) the Panigale V4 25° Anniversario 916 was created in a limited production of 500 units.
Sporting an original livery, the limited-edition model boasts forged magnesium Marchesini Racing wheels, a titanium type approved Akrapovič exhaust and a long list of carbon fibre and billet aluminium components. A Panigale V4 25 Anniversario 916 will set you back £36k and comes with an authenticity certificate which displays the bike, frame and engine numbers.
While we’d love the opportunity to take the Panigale V4 25 Anniversario 916 for a spin, the spec and exclusivity would be a daunting prospect!

1975 Yamaha TZ750 flat tracker

Yamaha’s TZ750 flat-tracker may have only won one race before it was removed from competition, but this banned bike still deserves a spot on our scariest motorcycles list. Producing over 100bhp and weighing 145kg, this is the bike that Kenny Roberts was riding when he won the 1975 Indianapolis Mile. After winning the race, Kenny Roberts was famously quoted as saying “they don’t pay me enough to ride that thing!”

KTM 1290 Super Duke RR £45,300

Based on KTM’s 1290 Super Duke R, the KTM 1290 Super Duke RR was ultra-exclusive and limited to just 500 units worldwide. 9 kilograms lighter than the standard model, the RR boasts a 1:1 power to weight ratio and lightweight carbon fiber bodywork. KTM sold out all 500 units of the 2021 KTM 1290 Super Duke RR in just 48 minutes!

MV Agusta Superveloce Ago

Limited to just 311 units, MV Agusta’s new Superveloce Ago is sure to be a sellout. Made in homage to Giacomo Agostini’s unrivaled racing career, the bike features three colours – Matt Fire Red, Matt SV Ago Magnum Silver, and accents in Matt Ago Yellow. Only 311 of these extremely special bikes will be made (each representing one of Ago’s race victories throughout his career) and the first 15 bikes, which represent Agostini’s world championship titles, come with an extra-special carbon fiber plate and leather strap on the tank. Priced from £27,000.

Dream Big Bike

The biggest motorbike, according to the The Guinness Book of Records, was built in 2013 by the Italian Fabio Reggiani. It is ten times bigger than a standard motorbike, measuring nine metres long, 5.10-metres high, and weighing more than three tonnes. The Dream Big Bike is equipped with a monstrous 5000cc Chevrolet V8 engine, and the wheels of this huge bike measure two metres in diameter. This machine can actually be ridden (despite the handlebars being unreachable!) so a control pad includes some controls that allow it to be manoeuvred.
